The Person Behind The Slate

My name is James, owner of JC Slate Works. Originally from the UK, where slate and tile roofing has been a traditional craft for generations. I learnt my trade working with experienced roofers and developing an appreciation for the skill and attention to detail that goes into quality roofing.

With over 15 years of experience in the trade, I've worked on everything from small repairs to complete slate roofs and heritage restorations.

I run JC Slate Works with a small, trusted team and take a hands-on approach to every project. You'll find me on every job, working alongside the team and making sure everything is completed to the standard I'd expect on my own home. No managing things from afar — I believe in being there, getting involved and taking pride in the finished result.

And then there's Marley, my four-legged quality control manager. He's occasionally on site keeping an eye on things too, provided he's welcome and the working conditions are suitable!
